The Retreat was specifically designed by local practitioners to care for the many symptoms that accompany Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. The result continues to be an award winning, unique residence that combines state-of-the-art programs with an environment that always feels warm, familiar and welcoming.
Our gentle, daily care is based on anticipating physical, emotional and spiritual needs with staff ratios not often seen in the assisted living space. Retreat Healthcare is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and we are happy to welcome you and your loved one to our family of care and services.

The unique care programs developed specifically for The Retreat are based in the concept of Daily Joy. Every resident in our care have the daily opportunity to find ways to feel purposeful and recognized. The Engagement Program starts with a dedicated staff trained and enthusiastic about activities, socials and adventure! The campus activity calendars are filled with physical activity, social groups, and complementary therapies such as Music, Art, Pets, and Nature. We partner with family members to learn about each resident and their interests.
The Retreat caregivers receive ongoing training on the benefits and application of purposeful and adventurous activities as the core of our care program.
Residents continue to share themselves with others, and our engagement programs focus on physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritual activities that bring each resident an opportunity for “Daily Joy”.

Retreat Healthcare earned the Joint Commission’s Assisted Living accreditation and Memory Care certification in 2024 and was ‘First in State’ for both awards. The Joint Commission signifies many things, with none larger than a devotion to patient safety and quality of care. By earning the Gold Seal of Approval®, Retreat Healthcare programs exemplify their commitment to using best practices to improve safety and quality for their patients, staff and community.
Through the accreditation and certification process, organizations and programs undergo an objective evaluation process to measure, assess and improve performance. The Joint Commission standards focus on patient safety and quality of care to help reduce the risk of errors and allow for continuous improvement.
In collaboration with the National Alzheimer’s Association, The Joint Commission Memory Care certification earned by The Retreat, Retreat Gardens and The Retreat Villas demonstrated the organization’s commitment to quality dementia programs.
The Joint Commission Memory Care Certification encompasses the provision of care and services for residents with memory impacting conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The goal of memory care is to provide person-centered care that honors lifelong routines and preferences; activity programming that matches the resident’s cognitive level; and alternatives to medication use for managing behaviors. These standards also highlight the importance of providing memory care in a physical environment with features that promote a resident’s ability to maintain the highest level of function and independence possible.
